Looking for a fun, flexible, and engaging way to guide yourself through the process of planning the perfect course? For the last several years, UFIT Center for Instructional Technology and Training (CITT) has delivered Course Mapping Camp, which helps you streamline the development of student-centered courses, and now it’s more flexible and easy-to-attend than ever! Course Mapping Camp was refreshed this past summer so that instructors can join asynchronously any time of year. The new Course Mapping Camp is led by four “camp counselors,” instructional designers with UFIT CITT, who guide you through every step of the course mapping process.

About Camp

Course Mapping Camp is delivered asynchronously through eLearning and is estimated to take approximately 10 hours to complete (at your own pace). Modules include video content, resources, optional AI prompts, and activities to help you navigate every part of a course map. Modules include:

• Camp Orientation
• Plotting Course Goals
• Marking the Way with SLOs
• Grouping Modules
• Mapping Assessments
• Charting Content
• Next Steps

In addition to content and activities, each module connects you to a dedicated camp counselor who is available to answer questions or consult on your course map.

Why Course Mapping Camp

A course map helps instructors ensure alignment all the way from broad program outcomes to measurable student assessments and is a required component in the Online Course Quality review process. Instructors are able to simultaneously visualize the big picture of their course while narrowing down to specific details in objectives and assessments. Sharing a course map with co-instructors and students is also a great way to illustrate the structure and expectations of the course.

Participants can choose to browse Course Mapping Camp at their own pace and complete it to earn a digital credential.
