CITT Instructional designers assist with course development, consultation, and pedagogically focused workshops for instructors, administrators, and staff at the University of Florida, including graduate students and post-doctoral associates. Instructional designers utilize research and best practices in course design that will:

  • Increase instructor presence and student engagement
  • Ensure accessibility
  • Enhance course organization and usability
  • Improve consistency within a course and across a program
  • Strengthen quality of lectures and other instructor-created material

Course Design

Instructors can work with an instructional designer on a full, partial, or revised course development that includes everything from designing an aligned course map to creating accessible and engaging content in accordance with UF Quality standards and Universal Design for Learning (UDL guidelines). Instructional designers will connect you with related services, such as video production or educational technology, based on your needs. Refer to guidelines below about availability and timeline.

Flipped Advising

Flipped advising utilizes the learning management system to design a site for students to access content in preparation for advising appointments, academic planning, and more. Work with an instructional designer to design and develop a flipped advising course that increases access to and enhances advising practices. Consultations

Instructional designers are available year-round to meet for consultations on course design, educational technology, accessibility, and more. Whether you want to review a specific teaching challenge, learn how to design or remediate content for accessibility, receive feedback on course design, explore educational technology, or more, you can request assistance for consultation to meet with an instructional designer. 

Trainings & Workshops

Instructional designers offer workshops year-round in a variety of formats. If you have questions about any of the current offerings, or would like to consult about a special offering focused on your department’s specific needs, request assistance for trainings & workshops to meet with an instructional designer.

Educational Technology

Teaching and learning tools can be a great way to solve specific teaching challenges or enhance the interactivity of a course. Course Design Availability and Timeline

Course design assistance is assigned based on availability and needs. If your request is outside the development timeframe, an instructional designer will meet with you for a consultation to answer course design questions.
