Jason Ortiz

Instructional Technology Specialist

Jason Ortiz joined CITT in July 2026, where he helps faculty and staff explore and apply emerging technologies to enhance teaching, learning, and student engagement. He brings experience spanning higher education, software engineering, and research and development in emerging technologies, with a particular interest in extended reality (XR), including virtual and augmented reality applications for learning, collaboration, and simulation.

He previously taught Information Technology courses at Santa Fe College and spent three years as a software engineer at Microsoft, following earlier roles providing technology training, application support, and consulting.

Jason holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Florida and an M.S. in Modeling & Simulation from the University of Central Florida. Outside of work, he enjoys cheering on the Gators, volunteering, collecting vinyl records, gaming, and reminiscing about his time performing in the Gator Band.
